Audiowalk Konzentrationslager Oranienburg 1933/34

Permanently accessible
Since 2. September 2022
Starting point: Oranienburger Schlossplatz

Accessible at Gedenkstätte & Museum Sachsenhausen

The audio walk about the Oranienburg concentration camp in 1933/34 takes listeners on a journey through the streets surrounding the former camp grounds in search of traces of violence from the past and present. Using historical documents and conversations with people living in Oranienburg today, the protagonist recounts her research on the concentration camp. Based on observations of today's cityscape and eyewitness accounts, she immerses listeners in scenes that could have taken place in 1933/34. The stories remain incomplete. Ultimately, the narrator stands with the listeners, now and today, knee-deep in the middle of history.

All you need for the audio walk is headphones and a mobile phone. The protagonist will show you the way.

The Audiowalk won the 2024 1st prize of Audiowalk-Award.
