A multimedia exploration of lost connections
By Angelika Waniek, Nashilongweshipwe Mushaandja, Frederike Moormann
Live between Windhoek and Stuttgart

Satellites fly. Masts transmit. Horns call. This evening opens a transcultural dialogue between Namibia and Germany – about stories of telecommunications.
Space. Radio connections. Invocation.
‘And if we don't take care to preserve these stories, we won't know what happened. We won't have recordings of their voices telling us about it. About what it was like in colonial Namibia, in apartheid Namibia. When they die, they take their stories with them.’ (Tuli Mekondjo)

Music, stories on stage and an audio walk in the urban space draw connections – from techniques of communication with ancestors to the involvement of large German companies in the genocide in Namibia from 1904 to 1908 to current satellite technology.

The double premiere SPACE HAS BECOME A CROWDED PLACE takes place simultaneously in Namibia and Germany. Internet and radio technology create a connection between the two performance venues. Let's get moving. From Windhoek (Namibia) to Stuttgart (Germany) and back.
